Majoring in Finance and Classics
ABOUT
4/20/2022
I’m a sophomore Public Leadership Scholar and a double major in Finance and Classics at the University of Maryland - College Park. I’m from Eldersburg, Maryland and went to Liberty High School. I like basketball, playing videogames, and learning about history.
I discovered my interest in finance in high school, where I was a student in the NAF Academy of Finance. As part of this completer program, I had the opportunity to complete an internship in the finance office of my school district. In this internship I got hands-on accounting experience and found creating journal entries and having numbers tie out satisfying. I decided to continue pursuing a career in finance by applying to the nationally recognized Robert H. Smith School of Business at UMD. Since starting college, I've had the opportunity to complete another internship in the Accounting and Finance department at Ciena, and am currently a Mergers and Acquisitions intern at Baltimore-Washington Financial Advisors. I have a passion for history, and decided to add a second major in Classics in the Spring semester of my sophomore year.
From the University of Maryland and and my internships, I hope to gain the experience and expertise necessary to get a full time job in the financial services industry after graduation. I am interested in investment banking and private equity, specifically, and am looking for Summer 2023 internships in either field.
