RESUME AND WORK SAMPLES

RESUME

4/20/2022

My resume as of April 20th, 2022: more detailed information about my internship experience and time at UMD so far.

THE CRUSADES AS AN EXERCISE OF NEW IDEAS ABOUT WAR

11/19/2021

This is a research paper I wrote for a medieval history class. I argue that the crusades can be seen as an exercise of new, church-influenced ideas about just causes for war, and discuss how the crusades failed to live up to these ideals.

I chose to include this paper as a work sample because it highlights my ability to coherently argue a complex thesis using evidence from primary and academic sources to support my claims. The process of gathering this evidence allowed me to apply my research and analysis skills.

DOOMED BY ARROGANCE: GENERAL BRADDOCK'S OHIO VALLEY CAMPAIGN

2/27/2022

In this paper written for an early American history class, I argue that General Edward Braddock's Monongahela campaign in the Ohio Valley frontier during the French and Indian War failed because of his arrogance and inflexible leadership style.

This paper is one of my most recent and highlights my growth as a writer when compared to some of my earlier writing samples posted below. This paper also demonstrates my ability to structure a multi-faceted argument.

12/16/2020

My contemporary thoughts on the covid-19 crisis, analysis of Theodore Roosevelt's leadership qualities, and what I could take away from them and apply to life during the pandemic.

FIRST SEMESTER REFLECTION

12/16/2020

My reflections on my first semester at UMD and on the PL Scholars program

LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY

10/29/2021

I argue that a good leader is visionary, a good communicator, is organized, decisive, adaptable, and humble.

PLCY201 granted me a much better understanding of leadership theory. My leadership philosophy takes from and synthesizes many of the theories we discussed in class, like that of ethical leadership.
